Relationships:

Kaname Tosen: Raian's Captain under which he takes direct orders. While he holds great respect for Tosen through their association and his rank alone, Raian holds his time with Captain Tosen dear. Raian finds Tosen's overcoming of his handicap to be inspiring, and believes that he hold strength far behind the typical definition. He sees the use of other senses, especially hearing, to 'see' the world as a true way to appreciate sound and music.

There's also another reason Raian greatly respects his Captain, though he does not speak of it.


Personality: Raian is the typical happy guy. You'll never catch him without a smile, or at least a smirk. He is very confident of himself, to the point it can be annoying, but never attempts to belittle others based on ability. Raian is also not above making a bad joke or two, and usual receives some form of physical abuse for it. He is very popular among the Academy students, and loves to put on a show for his "fans" whenever he can. He’s not a fan of going to class, despite being deceivingly intelligent, and will take an chance he can get to have a day off.

Despite not showing much care for his studies, Raian is quite dedicated to the Shinigami cause. He knows the honor and duty that comes with being a Shinigami and is devoted to attaining just that. He especially shows great respect for the Gotei 13 Captains, even idolizing their power. He hopes that he can one day be among them.

Raian shares a deep connection to his Zanpakutô. He does not see his sword as just a weapon, but as his partner. Without his skilled hands, her song would not be played, but without her, the beauty of the song would not exist. When not at his side, his sword takes a very special place on his wall. When addressing his weapon, Raian will often joke and refer to it as his “girl” or other terms regarding relationships.

Raian is not exactly a fan of fighting. His typical "Slacker" mentality and dislike of "Barbaric" hand-to-hand fighting (and the fact that he's kind of a wimp physically) drive him away unless absolutely necessary. If told to fight, he'll often complain and try to weasel his way out of it. This is not to be taken as a sign of cowardice. When absolutely necessary, Raian will fight to protect those important to him, and above all else, the Seireitei.

Deep down inside, Raian believes that all life is sacred and is to be respected. Even when faced with a lethal opponent, he will try to find any and all ways to end the fight without lethality. This is not the case in all battles, as Raian does possess the knowledge that not all can be saved. In order for many to live, one may have to die. This does not relate to the battling of Hollows, as Raian knows his blows bring peace to their souls. Still, no matter how wicked the individual that has to die may be, Raian will feel great sorrow afterwards.

Talents:

- Musician: Taking a love of music since his very birth, Raian has become very talented in the weaving of tunes. When out of battle, this is simply a pass-time used to enetertain himself and friends, but in battle, his multiple songs are warped into lethal weapons with the use of his Zanpakuto.

- Hidden Intellect: While Raian is usually under a calm and layed back demeanor, at times it is displayed that he is actually quite intelligent, secretly accessing situations and increasing his knowledge on a daily basis. While he is not much higher than an average Shinigami, it is thought that Raian could one day reach the level of a full-out genius.

- Adaptive Strategist: While most master strategists tend to monitor their enemies and develop a plan before entering the fray, Raian prefers to live in the moment. Tracking and culminating a plan of attack before a fight is simply too much work for him, and he works his best in the heat of battle. If he notices any failing to the opponent or recognizes the weakness of an enemy through his sheer know-how alone, he will act on it.

- Kidou Prodigy: Referred to as one of the most natural Kidou users in the Academy, and carrying his reputation onward to his time in the 9th Squad, Raian has developed skill in the arts at a surprising pace. He regards others who use chants to utilize Kidou as "Amateurs".

- Advanced Durability: While not a common trait, in battle Raian's dedication to the reasons he fights will push him onward, even when in great pain. He has developed this from years of physical abuse due to his lack of strength. This is not to say that he can simply shrug off injury, but for a time his need to win will overwhelm any physical sensation. In short, he may not be able to punch you to death, but he can take a beating.

Techniques:

Shikai Techniques:

"Oto no Ken" (Sword of Sound): Utilizing "Kurasshu waon", Raian forms the forces of sound into multiple projectile-like attacks, serving as Ryan's means of physical damage. What Ryan lacks in physical strength, he makes up for with this technique. Multiple sonic blasts can be launched by the struming of Raian's Zanpakuto, chasing the target down and inflicting blunt damage easily capable of breaking bones. The attacks do not necessarily have to come from Raian's point on the battlefield, his Zanpakuto giving him full control over all sound. If the opponent can move faster than the speed of sound, they can outrun this technique.

"Oto no shirudo" (Shield of Sound): Utilizing "Kurasshu waon", Raian produces radial shockwaves in a single burst or in a constant, rotating motion for long-term protection.While not a literal, tangible shield, the sheer force and impact of the shockwaves is enough to fend off most physical and energy attacks.While very durable, the waves can be penetrated by an attack by an opponent who's strength (for physical attacks) or Reiryoku (For Energy) surpass Raian's Reiryoku.

"Oto no chikara" (Force of Sound): Utilizing "Kurasshu Waon", Rain can supplement his lack of physical strength with the sheer force of sound for strikes with his Zanpakuto. To do this, Raian must strike a string on his weapon while swinging it in the direction he wishes. The burst of pure force from the weapon will launch it forward with extreme speed and impact. This is used as a last resort effort to fend off an attack that has, somehow, entered into close range with Raian. The strikes are not precise, leaving Raian open for attack if at least some contact is not made.

"Sukurimingu sokudo" (Screaming Speed): Utilizing "Kurasshu waon", Raian can supplement the sheer speed of sound for his own lack of physical strength. Through the striking of his guitar, Raian can travel without actually moving his legs at high speeds. This technique is entirely deffensive and used only as a means to flee battle or dodge attacks. Raian cannot strike out while in this state, having to lower to his normal speed before attacking. It's not to be forgotten that this movement utilizes the same waves Raian uses to attack, therefore strain is put on his body during the movement. The further he must go, the more he is fatigued.

History: It is unsure if Raian had a rough past or just doesn't care enough to talk about it, but it is rarely brought up. It is known that music is very dear to him, and can be traced back to his childhood. He does not come from royalty, nor of a clan of any high honor. He does not give out names of his family for reasons unknown, but with his displayed mentality, there's a good chance he erased the information for being boring. Heh, story of his life.

Zanpakutô Name: Tatari Sasayaki (Haunting Whispers)

Zanpakutô Appearance: A standard Katana with a multiple spike, almost buzzsaw-like ornament on the hilt of the sword just below the blade.

Zanpakutô Release Phrase: "Sing Beautiful Agony!"

Zanpakutô Spirit: A beautiful maiden with raven black hair. Her robes are red and white, and she carries a small harp in her arms. She speaks with a voice reminiscent to that of angels.

Zanpakutô Shikai: With the initial release of Raiain's Zanpakutô transforms his simple Katana into a larger, stringed instrument holding a very close similarity to an Electric Guitar, the bottom of the instrument is sharpened, serving as a blade if very desperate. Through the strumming of the strings, the Zanpakutô grants Raian the ability to bend and utilize sound waves to his will. The very air around his enemies becomes a trap, every sound in range of hearing becomes a blade, and even that is the most basic of Tatari Sasayaki's ability. This control allows the ability to blast opponents with shock waves, shut down organs, tense up and cripple limbs and many more factors with the evolution of his skill and passing of time.

- Zanpakutô Ability #1: "Kurasshu waon" (Crush Chord) This technique is activated by the hard strumming of Raian's Zanpakutô. Using it's ability to manipulate Sound Waves, Raian amplifies the sound around him, forming them into shock waves that can be used both offensively and deffensively. The force of each wave, in terms of offense against a Shinigami or High-Powered Hollow, would be the human equivalent of getting hit by a Large vehicle if used in one, full-powered blast. These shock waves are, themselves, invisible to the naked eye, and can be materialized literally anywhere a sound can be heard (though one does not need to hear anything to be hurt by the waves), but a loud boom will sound out before the wave launches, and anything floating in the air or in the way of the blasts will be blown away or scattered.
