Zanpaktou Shikai: A long, black sword appearing to be made of crystal (like
Inuyasha's Adamant Tetsegua but black) It freezes the one it strikes in black
ice, and can fire black ice shards that freeze the opponent on impact.

Zanpaktou Bankai: Kage Hyouten Kurokyoujin- A giant serpent made of black ice. It charges the opponent, almost at its own will, and freezes those it touches in black ice. The tip of its tail is attached to a glove that Akio wears when in Bankai, and is used like a dagger for close combat. Aside from the glove, the only visual change Akio undergoes in Bankai is that his hair gets black highlights, almost as if a part of him is fused with the Zanpaktou. His Bankai is also very limited. When he is in Bankai, Akio’s Reiatsu fuses with his Zanpaktou's, which he takes advantage of by doubling his speed.

Unlike most Bankai which fuse all but completely with their wielder, Kage Hyouten is an independent Zanpaktou that is able to act on its own. A rare bread of Zanpaktou which is sealed into its sword form, these Zanpaktou seek out Shinigami who can master their abilities and release the seal. In exchange, they lend their power and support to their “partners” which is said to grant them more Reiatsu.


History: Akio was always known as a bit of a show off. He had strong reiatsu
at an early age and wasn't against showing it. He entered the Shinigami
Academy on a dare and was skipped forward for learning his sword's name and
developing his skills while still a student. He's cocky, but serious when
pushed to be, and always rises to any challenge.

Shikai Abilities

1. Black Hail: Akio sends shards of black ice into the air. At an unexpected time (sometimes immediately and sometimes later) they descend on the opponent all at once.

2. Black Tower- Akio thrusted his Kage Hyouten into the ground, sending a trail of black ice in one direction the blade points to. When Akio stops the ice, the area at the end raises up into a large tower that instantly freezes the opponent if caught in it.

Bankai Abilities

1. Reiatsu Boost: Akio's reiatsu fuses with Kage Hyouten, more than doubling it. Akio and Kage Hyouten both use Reiatsu constantly, so this abilities is essential in long extended fights.

2. Speed Boost: Akio used the increased Reiatsu to double his speed, improving his close quarters combat. This was partly learned in his Bankai training.

3. Sync Fighting: Unlike other large Bankai like Renji Abarai's Zabimaru, Kage Hyouten acts on its own will and fights making its own decisions without Akio controlling it. This allows Akio and Kage Hyouten to attack and fight at the same time.

4. Senkei Buster: Only available while using Bankai. Akio's blade changes into a large buster sword. The ability to freeze the opponent no longer exists but the blade now surges with extremely powerful condensed Reiatsu. Akio drains his reiatsu to form the blade and Kage Hyouten's reiatsu sustains it. The energy it takes is vast and therefore it is very limited. However, it can finish most opponents with a single successful strike.

Character Abilities

Memory Sipher LV2: When Akio is in a bind or pinch situation with low reiatsu, there are times when his mind can fill with memories of his past. When this happens, his reiatsu fully recovers momentarily and does not decrease under any circumstances. The time in which his happens is short, however, and Akio has no control of WHEN it happens, nor does he know HOW. It's just something that is, so he uses it when able.
