A Day at the Beach

It was a sunny day on the beaches of Karakura. It was easily deserted by the Humans because of a few specially placed Kidou, but it was packed with Shinigami 3rd Seat and up. Happy shouts could be heard over the area as Momo let out a small laugh and threw a beach ball to Rangiku. They had only just arrived so they were still decked in robes and the alike (in Gigai, 'course) but that would all change soon enough.

As they set up drinks and seats, Kisuke gave a cough and a grin as he waved to a set of large wooden houses only recently created with Kidou. It had rooms for changing, a snack bar, and even a list of people that were here. Many a minute later and each and every Shinigami had changed into a bathing suit. Even the Captains had thrown off their haori and were relaxing by the water edge. Well, everyone but Hitsugaya, who took shade in the house near the snack bar.

A smiling Kenshin relaxed on a deck-chair in the sun, his crimson hair spread wildly over his naked chest, while a very light blush ran across his pale cheeks. Currently the Fifth Division captain was only decked within a pair of black swimming trunks, while the rest of his pale body was free to the world. His thin yet strong form twitched as he opened his blue eyes, glancing up as a shadow appeared over him and a figure grinned at him.

"TAI-CHO!"

SPLASH!

Kenshin could only cough in surprise and stare at the lightly smiling Momo, who held a bucket of water in her hands. She herself was dressed in a modest swimsuit, yet her admirable curves were still easy to see. Her bright eyes stared into his own as she blushed before turning away, being pulled back by a wildly grinning Rangiku, who gave the Captain a cheeky wink. The crimson haired warrior could only laugh to himself

Why was he not surprised that Rangiku put Momo up to that?

Hikari hid behind Yumiko, embarrassed. The white haired girl stood with her hands on her hips, unfazed by the stares and whistles they were getting. Hikari, on the other hand, was blushing from head to toe, and had her arms crossed over her chest.

Yumiko, clad in a violet and silver bikini patted her brother's arm as he growled at the men who were eying she and her friend. Hikari, who was wearing a black two-piece with blue-green polka dots, was pulled out from behind Yumiko by Rukia.

"Come on, Kari-chan! Lighten up! Come have some fun with us!" the Kuchiki exclaimed.

Hikari's eyes widened as her cover was blown.

"B-but..."

"Ah, Yumiko-chan! Hikari-chan!" Kira called out as he ran over to them. "We were about to go play volley ball, will you join us?"

"Fuck." Saikah plainly said, sitting in the snack bar and away from the others. She aws wearing a light blue kimono that faded to white downward. "Even if it is for fun....I just don't feel comfortable going out like that..." she mumbled, glancing to the side. "Taicho, are you sure you'll be ok? What if Matsumoto gets drunk and drag you out to the fray?"

Yumiko, for the first time that day, blushed.

"Sure," she said, elbowing Hikari, who also reluctantly agreed.

Dammit! Hikari thought. Why do I always let her drag me into this kind of stuff...?

"I don't want to even think about that. It's just too..hot.."

Hitsugaya muttered to himself as he sighed, and tried to relax. He was red in the face and was decked in simple shorts, sweating and tired. His eyes flickered up as the tender stood with his back turned behind the snack-bar. His ears twitched, hearing shouts of glee as Ichigo kicked a ball into the air and let out a cocky shout. Further and further he heard enticing shouts to get out there.

Yet, it was just too HOT!

Why not get some ice-cream?

"Hey, ca-"

Hitsugaya froze as the bar-tender smiled and turned at his voice. The guy behind the bar stood taller than himself with spiky black hair with a pig-tail trailling down the back. Crimson streaks ran through the black hair of the guy, as a, he supposed, strange yet handsome face grinned at him. Fox-like eyes stared into his own, and an almost shiver ran down the Captain's spine as the guy spoke with an unusual accent.

"Hey! What'd ya' need, dude? Ice?"

A second shiver ran down his spine.

".....I'll just have some Sake."

He was gonna need that.

"Ara?" Saikah muttered, looking at the bar-taker. "Aren't you that perverted kid from Karakura High?"

"Tai-cho~~~~~" matsumoto cried as she glomped him from behind.

"Shiro-chan, come and play!" Hinamori called out, waving as she was being splashed by Isane.

Yumiko grabbed the volleyball that was laying int he warm sand and stood at the edge of the court. Tossing it high into the air, she served it low over the net, only to have it returned by Rukia.

"Hikari!" she cried as it came back.

Hikari nodded and positioned herself by the net. She bumped the ball over to Yumiko, who set it with her fingertips, leaving Hikari to spike the ball in between Isane and Hisagi.

"Score!"

"..GAH! Y-yeah, I'm Kai Blackdragoon!"

Kai shouted as he gaped. Really the only reason he had entered that school was because he was on a sixth month vacation away from Duel Academy and he couldn't miss out on so much education. Since their last meeting Kai had gone back to the Academy and ended up facing crazy crap once more, thus sending him crying for peace. He had just beaten a girl he had known in a duel when suddenly he had gotten lost.

BIG TIME.

Safe to say he wound up in Karakura and was drafted into helping some dude with a bucket-hat. Still, it was AWESOME so far! Not only were the, heh heh, 'sites' amazing, but he also got a letter from his cousin saying he would be here. Now, if only he could get this extremely cute girl to go on a date with him, and life would be all the sweeter. Long as no uncute tomboy or deranged lunatic showed up anyway...

Sigh...

"Seeeerve!"

Ow.

Kenshin rubbed his head as he stood up from the impact of a ball upon his head. He turned around and stared at the waving Orihime. He blinked in shock and span around, making sure she wasn't waving to anyone else. Nope, no one there! Huh. A red blush ran across his cheeks as he turned and bowed after laughing, picking up the ball before launching it back with a hefty shout

"Heads up! Tai-cho is throwing!" came Renji's call as he stood playing with the 'Karakura' gang made up of Ichigo and his friends.

BAM

"Ouch, that had to hurt, eh teme?" said Ichigo as the ball smacked Renji in the nose.

Kenshin could only sweat drop in embarrassment. He had never been a good thrower

Spiky hair bounced on a short figure as crimson eyes stared at the sun under a beach umbrella. The short figure was pale and was crossing his arms, watching the rest of the Shinigami run around. He sipped his drink and calmly enjoyed the sun's raze, relaxing backwards into his towel. Normally this whole scene would be normal, if not for that fact that a giant sword wrapped in chains stood deep in the sand next to him

"I blame Masataka. Bloody smart arse.."

"Nya~~~" Matsumoto said, giggling as Renji was hit in the face. She glanced to the side and saw a familiar white haired girl. "Oy!!! Yuki!!!"

Yuki blinked and waved. She had a basket in one arm filled with flowers and carried a bottle of sake in the hand. Walkig up to Matsumoto, she cocked her head to the side.

"What's up? Why are you here?"

"We thought it'd be nice to get out and stay in the sun!" Matsumoto said as she jumped. She paused and pointed at what she was carrying. "Ne....what's that for?'

"A-Ah....it's for a friend...." she said, trying to maintain her smile.Closing her eyes, she ran past her. "Sorry! I'm going to be late!"

"All right! When you come back, how about a swing?" Matsumoto said before she served the volley ball to Renji.

Yuki didnt hear what she said as she bumped into someone under an umbrella, causing her to fall backwards. "O-Ow...." she muttered as she quickly got up and bowed. "I'm sorry, I'm so so-" She froze, her eyes shrank as she saw the person she bumped into. She was so shocked, she droped the bottle she carried and the basket slid off her arm.

".......Laharl?!"

A hand lashed out followed by a second one. Laharl yawned and held up the caught items, setting them down and simply nodding to Yuki. The Inuzaku calmly smiled at the girl before waving and picking up his drink, taking a rather long sip of it. He seemed really relaxed and happy, not even seemingly giving a damn that he shouldn't even be alive. Yet, he was, seemingly enjoying the bright sun

"Yeah, it's me. Masataka screwed up with Forbidden Kidou and some sort of 'Seal' as he calls it. He lost his Hollow powers because of it." came Laharl's dry utter as he rolled his eyes "He wants to reverse the whole process that caused this so he can get em' back, but I'd rather not just yet." He smiled finally and grasped Yuki's hand, dragging her down next to him as he finally spoke with a tone of happiness and a tint of affection in his eyes

"Come on Yuki-chan, relax a' little. While we still have time."

The ball was passed back and forth for a while before Rukia finally hit it low and far over the net.

"I got it!" Hikari shouted, finally getting over her modesty and embarrassment, and dove backwards for the ball. Sand flew in the air as she bumped the ball up a few feet to Yumiko, who set it for Rangiku.

"Leave it to me!" Mastmoto said as she jumped up and spiked it, hitting Ichigo a bit too low.

"ITAI!!!!! WHAT THE HELL, ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL ME?!" HE cried. Even if it was a beach ball, it would still hurt if hit hard enough.

Yuki's eyes return to normal, still in shock. However, all she could do is smile as tears escaped her eyes.

"....Yeah..." She said, resting her head on his shoulder. "I really missed you....It's too bad you can't stay...."

Yumiko laughed so hard she couldn't breathe. Clutching her stomach, she leaned on Hikari, who was trying to hide her giggles but failing miserably, for support.

"Rangiku," Yumiko chided, wiping her eyes, "You shouldn't do that. What if Rukia wants kids some day."

They all laughed even harder at the look on Rukia's face. It was as red as a tomato, and she was about ready to kill Yumiko.

"I know, but lets enjoy the time we have now....."

Laharl smiled as he pulled Yuki close and closed his red eyes, breathing in her heavenly scent. He had missed her. He had missed her so damn much.

Ichigo frowned at that and turned his head, hiding a tight blush over his face and his pounding heart at the thought of Rukia and him. Suddenly he was hit with a second ball, causing him to growl and spin on his foot, staring at a laughing Renji. With a smirk the orange-haired Shinigami ran forward and pulled back his hand, throwing the ball back with as much force as possible. Seconds later he was rewarded with a massive pained scream as Renji's eyes glazed, falling to his knees and holding his crotch

"...Heh, serves 'ya right." chuckled Ichigo.

Kenshin could only sigh in the background

"This sucks!"

"...Tell me about it."

Kai and Hitsugaya muttered as they watched everyone have fun. They were too hot and just couldn't be bothered going out into the sun. Suddenly they glanced at each and shrugged. Seconds later they drew two sets of wierd cards to the snack-table. In a flash their eyes locked and suddenly something changed between them. Two Dragon users. Two Dragon filled beings.

"I draw!"

"Hmm."

Everyone watching them sweatdropped. They were playing...

Yumiko was wheezing, she was laughing so hard.

"Now, now, children," she lectured playfully. "No fighting. Let's just go on playing a nice game of non-crotch-hitting volleyball."

Hikari rolled her eyes at the boys, having managed to stifle her giggles. She trotted over to the ball and tossed it to Rukia.

"Your serve."

"Mah mah....what a rare sight ta see Shiro-chan playin' a Human's game." A familiar voice said. Saikah's eyes narrowed as she grabbed one of the buckets of ice and water and tossed it over her shoulder, earning the desired reaction. "COLD!!! COLD COLD COLD!!!!" She couldn't help but chuckle.

"Ne....that wasn't very nice, Silky-chan." Gin said, wet from head to toe.

"Screw you, dumbass." Saikah said as she took a bottle of sake and drank it down all the way.

"Ne...You should have fun as well....right?" YUki said as she closed her eyes. "I want to remember this moment....so we should do something!" She hopped up and grabbed his arm, urging him to get up. "Come on! Lets go play volley ball!"

Rukia nodded as she hit the bal. However, she aimed off and the ball went towards the out of bounds section. "Oh no!" she cried.

The ball was then hit. Hard. Straight at Ichigo's face. The hitter? Byakuya. He walked up to them before scoffing and walking away.

"Yay Byakushi!" Hikari cheered, laughing. Yumiko also giggled as she retrieved the ball again. She tossed it to Hikari, who set it for Rangiku, and thusly, the game went on, with Ichigo and Renji getting more violent with each serve.

"Kya~~~~ It's getting really hot out here." Matsumoto said. "Come on, lets go for a quick swim!" Before anyone had any objections, she grabbed Hikari's arm and practically threw her in the water.

"Waaa!" she shouted before hitting the water with a splash. She came up sputtering, water streaming down and hair in her face.

Suddenly, the silence was split by a loud white haired girl.

"Kyaaa!!!" Yumiko shouted before landing on top of Hikari, sending them both tumbling into the water.

"All right, let's party!" Matsumoto cried as she jumped in, followed by Hinamori and Rukia.

Ichigo was about to go into the water before he was pushed aside by Renji.

"Oy Renji! What the hell is your problem?!"

"Shut up! I'm going in first!"

"No, I am!"

"No, I AM!!!"

After a few minutes of arguing, both were holding htier heads in pain after a beating from Aura and her stick of punishment.

"It may be a vacation, but no need to act so immature...especially you, FUKUTAICHO." she said before jumping in.

"Who cares about immature?!" Yumiko said, laughing as she completely ignored Hikari's death glare. Cupping her hands around her mouth, she shouted to the rest of the people on the sand "Last one in's a rotten egg!!!"

Hikari smiled and added quietly, "But the first one has to eat it!"

"Nani?!" Ichigo and REnji said as they both struggled. They both jumped in at the same time and started to argue who was the rotten egg.

"Ne....Miko-chan's so mean~~~" GIn said, after being chased out of the bar by Saikah. "Do ya know where Izuru is?"

Yumiko flashed out of the water and sent her fist into Gin's face, sending him flying.

"You will not come near him, creepy-stalker-foxy-face!!" she shouted.

Gin held his nose in utter pain as he backed away form Yumiko.

"Kowaii, Miko-chan...." he said.

"Oy! Yumiko!" Rukia called out. "Look! WE found something on the ocean floor!"

Yumiko glared at the silver haired man.

"If it's not something that will cause Mr. Fox-face over here pain, then I don't really care..."
